We got up about 4:30 – it had rained a lot during the night
and Linda said there were huge storms with lightning and thunder. And it is much cooler. It got light about 4 am. We went up to Deck 12 and it was cold and
wet. We saw some wind turbine groups along
the way and then we finally saw the bridge.
But the bridge goes into a tunnel so the ship won’t pass under it. We passed the Copenhagen airport as well.

We went back to bed about 5:30 and slept until 8. We had a light breakfast and coffee on the upper deck. We met our group of 50 for the Copenhagen tour, all people staying on for the next cruise. We loaded into one bus and headed off to see Copenhagen.

The first stop was the Little Mermaid, created by a Hans
Christian Andersen story. The statue has
been beheaded twice and lost an arm, but she’s back in her place. This is the most visited place in Copenhagen.
We went to the Royal Palace – 4 identical palaces around a
central square. The Queen’s palace is
under renovation but she is at her castle in the north. There is a large church nearby and an opera
house. The Crown Prince has his own
palace next door and his brother has one too!
We went to a pedestrian street and strolled around and
people watched. The old Stock Exchange
building was interesting as it has 4 dragons on top and their tails are
intertwined to form the spire of the building.
We drove by Tivoli Gardens and went to City Hall.
At City Hall we left the tour and met Jack Johnson. We went to Oscar’s for lunch across the
street. His friend Per joined us
later. We had Danish beer and a good
lunch. It was fun meeting up with Jack
there.
After going to the front entrance to Tivoli Gardens, we
caught the 3:30 shuttle back to the ship.
I took a nap and then we had the safety drill again. We met our next door neighbors, Gary and
Monique, from near Palm Springs.
We went up on deck for sail away and then dressed for
dinner. We had champagne in Observation
with Judith and Allen from England. I
had booked another first night reservation at Signatures so we went to our 8 pm
reservation there and had a great dinner.
Our next door neighbors, Gary and Monica from LA, were there. I met Peter and Frank from the Netherlands –
I thought they were Freddie and Franz from Switzerland (who are friends of
Per’s), but they weren’t. Nice guys.
We returned to the room about 10 pm and headed to bed. The seas are choppy and a bit rough so
hopefully we’ll sleep well tonight.
